Sri Racha Town
Sri Racha Bay from Koh Loy Park
Si Racha is a town in Thailand, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand
, about 120 km southeast of Bangkok located within Amphoe Si Racha in the province
of Chon Buri.
The municipality was created as a sub district municipality in 1945. In 1995 the
sub district municipality was upgraded to a town municipality.
The Thai spelling is Sri Racha, Si Racha is a transliteration of the Thai pronunciation
attributable to the fact that the double consonant sr does not occur natively in
Thai speech so therefore pronounced see - ra - cha.
Take a stroll through the health park, then head for Koh Loy, an island connected
to the mainland by a short road and home to a turtle farm and Chinese temple. A 40-minute
ferry ride away is Koh SiChang island.
