May 1 , 1972, Foodland Supermarket Co., Ltd. was founded by Mr. Somsak Teeraphatanakul,
Mr. Krachang Termvivatana, Mr. Edwin Lim and with Mr. K.W. Lam being the consultant
advisor in planning and organizing the space arrangement and store flow design, which
made them one of the first modern retail food stores in Thailand.
Foodland Ploenchit, catered to middle and up market customers who were mainly residents
of the Sukhumvit and Ploenchit areas, guests of nearby five star hotels as well as
the diplomatic personnel around Wireless Road who sought a selection of imported
products, meats, seafood and household wares. Foodland first full scale supermarket
which set a new high standard for fresh food products in Thailand. The name Foodland
Supermarket was well established among customers for its food quality, wide range
of product selection, freshness of food products and consistent good service. They
