Beirut Restaurant, Ploenchit Centre B1F, Soi 2 Sukhumvit. In an unlikely location
next to a supermarket in an otherwise nearly desolate shopping mall, Beirut gets
negative points for ambience but serves up very good Middle Eastern fare. Basic shwarma
in a pita less than 100 Baht, set meals 220 Baht and upwards
A great place for Arab and Indian halal food is Sharahzad, located in Bangkok's own
Muslim district in Sukhumvit Soi 3/1. The place is decorated in typical Middle Eastern
style with many gold, flowers and colourful lights, and the waitresses wear muslim
The food is a mix of Arab and Indian food, of which the stuffed pigeon and various
Kebabs are recommended! Drinking water and pickled vegetables are provided tor free.

Le Dalat, Sukhumvit Soi 23. Two excellent Vietnamese restaurants, two locations about
a block apart and across the street from each other. edit
Xuan Mai, Sukhumvit Soi 13, Excellent and varied Vietnamese menu, served by the owner,
a charming lady who was a former Vietnamese beauty queen and FBI operative before
moving to Bangkok to open a restaurant. Open kitchen so you can see the cooking in
Vientiane Kitchen, Sukhumvit Soi 36. Very good Lao food. Nice ambiance featuring
a band playing music from Laos
The Sukhumvit area contains more watering holes than can easily be counted, and touts
are not as big of a problem here as in Pat Pong. However, the scene is oriented towards
tourists and wealthy high-society Thais, for more of a local ambience ( and local
prices ) head a bit north to Ratchadaphisek instead.
