The display of seafood was very tempting and the prawns were perhaps some of the largest I had ever seen. But even here large prawns are not cheap.

I have to say visiting any floating market is high on my list when I visit Thailand. They make a really exciting and fun day out. Amphawa is a traditional Thai market, catering for the Thai people but that does not detract from its roots and early beginnings. Compared to Damnoen Saduak I prefer this floating market. Damnoen Saduak Floating which is sited in Ratchaburi Province is perhaps the busiest and most popular of all the Floating Markets and suffers from this with long delays, large crowds, more items for sale that cater more for the foreign tourist. Don’t get me wrong about this, it’s still a wonderful floating market but for me personally it’s too commercial. Amphawa  is more traditional and offers better food at better prices. But I have to say all of the Floating Markets have their own unique atmosphere and attractions.
