Khao Kong Buddhist Park has a graceful southern Buddha image, the golden Phra Phuttha

Thaksin Ming Mongkhon, which is seated in the lotus position. This mountaintop Buddha

image, which is considered to be the most beautiful and largest outdoor Buddha image

in southern Thailand. The park offers beautiful scenery and historical cultural information

about Southern Thailand.

The park is part of the Sankala Khiri Mountain Range that serves as a natural border between

Thailand and Malaysia. The area was once mostly inhabited by guerrillas, therefore, few

people could get in to admire the natural beauty of the virgin jungle. It was only with the establishment of the Pacho Waterfall Park ( later known as Budo-Su-ngai Padi National Park ) in 1974 by the Royal Forest Department that the situation had changed. The park occupies an area of 294 square kilometres and extends into parts of Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani Provinces.  26 km north of Narathiwat

How to get there: To reach the park, take a Pattani-bound minibus or songtheaw and jump off either at the turn off to the falls

( it is well signposted ) from where it is about a 2 km walk, or at Ba Cho itself where you can get a motorbike taxi to the falls for 30 Baht. To return to Narathiwat, just hop on a songtheaw or bus on the other side of the road.

Ban Thon iis a traditional Thai Muslim fishing village that is a production centre of real and miniature korlae boats. The boats are all the more valuable because they are made by boys ages 13 and up. Some children spend their free time making these miniature boats, which is considered to be a form of local art.  Open days  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
