First Time Visit to Thailand

This page is for those people that have not been to Thailand before. It saves you having to read through the Visa Rules. This page is in reality the basic starter page.

When you book your flight or holiday to Thailand you will need a visa when you arrive in Thailand. If you are going for a holiday, you will be given a 30 day Visa when you arrive in Thailand, providing you arrive through a National Airport from outside Thailand. The Visa stamps can be seen on the right.

Remember when you book your flight to have the correct dates that fall in with your time allowed to stay. In other words don’t book a 6 week holiday without having a 90 day visa in your Passport. You will probably not be allowed on the flight now. I did do this some years ago but because I knew Thailand well and had been many times and because I had a return flight they let me on the flight. ( which meant I had to go to Immigration in Bangkok to extend my stay ). Do not rely on this now. You will have to arrange a 90 day Visa with one of  the Thai. Consulates in England BEFORE you go - so that you have the Visa stamped in your Passport to show Immigration when you arrive. And to show the check in staff that you have the correct Visa in this country.

If you want to extend your stay when you are in Thailand, check on your flight first to see if you can change and how much it is to change. Then go to Immigration in Bangkok to extend your Visa. It is not a problem, nor is it difficult, just time consuming. Due to the many people doing exactly the same as you and everyday  is the same when they are open !
